Camden Hickox had already been honored as the Small-School Track and Field Athlete of the Year by 912 Sports once again.
This past weekend, he added three more state championships to his outstanding career resume while competing for the Appling County Pirates at the Class AA state meet held in Commerce.
The senior standout won the 400-meter race and also was part of the relay teams for Appling that won the 4x200 and 4x400 events to claim state titles as well.
With those results, Hickox has been chosen as the Coastal Pines Technical College Boys Student-Athlete of the Month by 912 Sports.
“Camden capped off an outstanding high school track career, winning three state championships in his final high school competition,” said Appling head coach Bobby Rhoades. “He has been an outstanding leader for our track program throughout his career.”
Hickox won the 400 in 48.30 seconds, crossing the finish line almost a full second ahead of the runner-up last week.
Appling’s 4x200 relay team broke the Class AA state record at sectionals with a time of 1 minute, 27.05 seconds. This past weekend at state, the squad of Jermaine McMillan, Treyshawn Moore, Kemoni Ryals and Hickox broke the state meet record with another sub-1:28 time and won by almost two seconds over its nearest challenger.
The 4x400 team for the Pirates completed a three-peat in the event with a victory by more than three seconds as it finished in 3:19.10.
Hickox was on all three of the 4x400 teams that won state for the Pirates.
He won the Small-School Track and Field Athlete of the Year presented by 912 Sports in 2023 before winning the honor again this spring.
Also a football standout at Appling, Hickox is set to play football at Yale University.

Kiara Green performed like a true champion this past
weekend at the state track meet.
The Charlton County standout runner won two
individual state championships at the Class A Division II
state meet held at East Jackson High School in
Commerce.
Green won gold in the 100-meter dash and also the 200. Those performances alone made her a deserving choice for this month’s Coastal Pines Technical College Girls Student-Athlete of the Month honor from 912 Sports.
But, the subplots actually thicken from there.
The state title by the Charlton track and field team was
the first-ever state championship won by a girls program at the school in Folkston.
Also, Green performed a championship-level while
running on a fractured foot which bothered previously
her at state sectionals earlier and throughout the
championship meet last week. She didn’t find out about the fracture, though, until she went to the hospital following the meet to have her foot checked out.
“Kiara is an absolutely special talent and equally as great of a young person as you will find,” said Charlton coach DeMario Jones who also was hired in recent months as the school’s new head football coach. “Kiara persevered so much to be able to achieve her goals this year. “What I really enjoyed most about the experience of winning the state championship is how close-knit Kiara and her teammates became throughout the season. “
Green won the 100-meter in 12.07 seconds. The second- place runner finished in 12.44
She won the 200 in 25.50. The state runner-up finished
in 26.12.
